ELDEN RING - Shadow of the Erdtree — PS5

What Is ELDEN RING - Shadow of the Erdtree — PS5?

Shadow of the Erdtree is a major downloadable expansion for ELDEN RING on PlayStation 5. It sends your Tarnished beyond the Lands Between and into the Land of Shadow, a vast new realm shaped by the story of Miquella. This product is expansion content, not a standalone game, so a compatible PS5 copy of the ELDEN RING base game is required.

The expansion keeps the open-ended action RPG structure of the main adventure while adding fresh areas, legacy dungeons, smaller dungeons, dangerous field encounters, and demanding boss battles. You can move between the Land of Shadow and the Lands Between, giving you room to refine your build, collect equipment, and approach challenges at your own pace.

What Does the Expansion Add?

Shadow of the Erdtree expands both exploration and character building. New weapon categories, individual weapons, armor sets, talismans, spells, incantations, Ashes of War, enemies, and bosses create more options for PvE progression and online play. The new gear can support strength, dexterity, intelligence, faith, arcane, or hybrid builds depending on its requirements and scaling.

• A new region: Explore the Land of Shadow, its open zones, hidden routes, settlements, catacombs, and major dungeons.
• New combat options: Discover weapons, skills, sorceries, incantations, armor, and talismans that broaden build variety.
• Major boss encounters: Face new enemies and challenging bosses designed for experienced Tarnished.
• A deeper story: Follow Miquella's path and uncover characters, conflicts, and lore connected to the history of the ELDEN RING world.
• More build experimentation: Combine expansion equipment with items from the base game to prepare for PvE encounters, co-op sessions, or PvP.

Who Is This PS5 Expansion For?

This DLC is aimed at players who already own ELDEN RING and want a substantial new endgame-scale journey. It is especially relevant if you enjoy difficult boss fights, environmental storytelling, hidden paths, weapon testing, and repeated build optimization. Progress in the base game is also necessary before your character can access the expansion area, so a developed save is recommended.

Solo play remains central, while optional online features support cooperative and competitive play. A PlayStation Plus membership is required for online multiplayer functionality; it is not required for the core single-player experience.
