Assassin's Creed Shadows - Claws of Awaji — Xbox Series X|S

What Is Assassin's Creed Shadows - Claws of Awaji?

Claws of Awaji is a story expansion for Assassin's Creed Shadows on Xbox Series X|S. It is not a standalone game: you need the Assassin's Creed Shadows base game on the same Xbox platform and a compatible account to access it. The expansion sends Naoe and Yasuke across Osaka Bay to Awaji, a new island region shaped by hidden paths, deadly traps, ambushes, and a hunt for a lost artifact.

The add-on delivers more than 10 hours of additional content and continues the pair's story against the Sanzoku Ippa. It is designed for players who have progressed through the main campaign and want a substantial new region rather than a small cosmetic pack.

What Does the Expansion Add?

• Awaji island: Explore a distinct region with new objectives, castles, threats, and environmental hazards.
• A new story chapter: Follow Naoe and Yasuke as they pursue a mysterious shinobi and confront the Sanzoku Ippa clan.
• Legendary Bō weapons: Expand Naoe's combat options with legendary Bō staves and unique engravings available through expansion content.
• New progression rewards: Unlock additional skills, weapon abilities, armor, outfits, perks, and gear for both protagonists.
• Main-game use: Bring eligible equipment and abilities earned on Awaji back into the wider Assassin's Creed Shadows campaign.

Gameplay Value for Naoe and Yasuke

Awaji adds variety to both stealth and direct combat. Naoe can develop new Bō-based tactics while navigating enemy traps and ambushes, and both protagonists gain new build options through skills, armor, gear, and weapon abilities. New bosses and enemy types give established builds a fresh challenge, while rewards earned in the expansion can strengthen or diversify your approach in the main game.

This content is best suited to players who want to continue the narrative after the core story, explore another part of feudal Japan, and expand their endgame loadouts. The new region also gives completion-focused players more activities, loot, and progression goals to pursue.

Access Requirements on Xbox Series X|S

To begin Claws of Awaji, complete the main story arcs for Naoe and Yasuke and finish the Out of the Shadows quest. After meeting the story requirements, Hanzo's contact at the Hideout in Settsu opens the path to Awaji.
