Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

What Is Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor on Steam?

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor on Steam is a single-player auto-shooter and action roguelite set in the dangerous caves of the planet Hoxxes. Bringing the Deep Rock Galactic universe to a top-down format, the game handles aiming and shooting automatically, allowing players to focus on movement, gathering resources, choosing the right route, and avoiding swarms of aliens.

Each mission features procedurally generated caves and different waves of enemies. You can dig through cave walls to reach valuable minerals, complete mission objectives, and try to return to the drop pod before time runs out. Split-second upgrade decisions, weapon combinations, and movement strategies directly affect how each run unfolds.

Gameplay and Progression System

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor combines intense enemy waves with mining mechanics in a single gameplay loop. While your weapons operate automatically, you must position your character, guide enemies into advantageous areas, and carve out escape routes through the caves. As you level up, you can enhance your weapons, select new effects, and create a build suited to your run.

• Automatic combat: Weapons automatically fire at targets, while movement, positioning, and resource gathering remain under the player’s control.
• Mining: Dig through cave walls to reach minerals, mission resources, and new passageways.
• Weapon upgrades: Change your weapons’ damage, mechanics, and combat roles through level-up choices and Overclock options.
• Class options: Dwarf classes such as Scout, Gunner, Engineer, and Driller support different approaches to movement, mining, and weaponry.
• Mission objectives: In addition to gathering resources, you must complete company objectives and reach the extraction point before time runs out.

Strategy in the Caves of Hoxxes

The game’s difficulty does not come solely from the number of enemies on the screen. The tunnels you dig can provide an escape route, but they can also trap your character in a confined area. Therefore, while gathering minerals, it is important to consider the direction of approaching enemies, the map layout, and the extraction route together.

The weapons and upgrades selected during a run allow you to create different builds. You can balance area damage, critical hits, attack speed, elemental effects, and defensive options. Failed runs also help you discover new possibilities and prepare more effective combinations for future missions.
