League of Legends' 26.20 patch, which hit live servers on October 7, 2026, is shaping the competitive balance ahead of the World Championship. While Ambessa, Ashe, K'Sante, and Yunara are being nerfed, champions such as Kindred, Mordekaiser, Smolder, and Vayne are being buffed. The update also changes replay privacy, adds five champions to Classic mode, and brings HEARTSTEEL Live My Life skins to the game.
Which Champions Were Nerfed in the Worlds Patch?
One of the main goals of 26.20 is to limit champions whose reliability has risen too much in professional play. Ambessa's passive damage was reduced in terms of both base value and bonus attack damage ratio. This lowers the consistent damage level she reaches, especially as the game progresses.
Ashe's attack damage per level was reduced from 3.5 to 3. This change preserves the marksman's vision, slowing, and long-range engage tools while reducing her direct damage growth.
Cassiopeia's base health was reduced from 630 to 610, and her base mana from 480 to 450. These adjustments target early lane pressure and will require players to manage resources more carefully.
The mana cost of K'Sante's W ability was increased by 5 at all ranks. The damage reduction range of the ability in both its base and All Out states was also lowered from 30–75% to 25–70%. The change aims to limit his reliable frontline and damage reduction capacity in coordinated teams.
Yunara's passive and active on-hit damage on her Q ability was reduced. The stacking of her W slow with other slows was also removed. This adjustment aims to prevent hypercarry-focused, low-interaction team compositions from becoming overly dominant in the Worlds meta.
Which Champions Were Buffed?
Diana's bonus health ratio on her W shield was increased from 11% to 14%. The change supports more durable fighter builds instead of pure assassin setups.
The bonus attack speed Kennen gains from his E ability was increased by 10 points at all ranks. This buff partially offsets the ability haste loss on Hextech Rocketbelt.
Kindred's W damage multiplier against monsters was increased from 150% to 165%. The E slow was increased from 1 second to 1.5 seconds, and the ability can no longer target small monsters. Jungle clearing and target selection are expected to become more consistent.
Lillia's ultimate sleep duration remains unchanged at the first rank but increases to 2.75 and 3 seconds at later ranks. Lucian's attack damage per level was increased from 2.5 to 2.9, compensating for the negative impact of the previous patch in the bot lane.
Mordekaiser's Q damage scaling was increased between levels 10–20, and the cooldown of his ultimate was reduced at the first two ranks. Neeko's E ability gains higher base damage and an empowered root duration.
Smolder's critical strike-focused passive ratios and the self-healing from his ultimate were significantly increased. Swain is being pushed toward mid lane with more magic resistance, lower armor, and a stronger W ability. Tahm Kench's Q healing is increased, while Vayne's health regeneration and Q mana cost are improved.
Which Builds Are Affected by the Item Changes?
The attack speed and movement speed multiplier Experimental Hexplate provides to ranged champions was reduced. This adjustment especially targets ranged champions in the top lane who buy the item early to gain both durability and attack power.
Hextech Rocketbelt's ability haste was reduced from 20 to 10. In return, its active damage was increased from 100 plus a 10% ability power ratio to 135 plus a 15% ability power ratio. The item is now being pushed closer to a damage-providing engage option rather than a frequently used mobility tool.
Runaan's Hurricane's attack damage per additional bolt was reduced from 65% to 60%. The power of the item, which had become overly efficient after recent buffs, is being partially rolled back.
Why Were Replay Files Made Private?
As of 26.20, players will only be able to download replays of matches they participated in. Access to other players' replay files is being removed, and third-party applications will no longer be able to download replays.
Riot explains this change as part of security measures that limit the misuse of game data for developing cheating tools and unauthorized software. Players will continue to be able to download and review their own match replays directly through the LoL client.
The change may affect content creators, analysis tools, and third-party services that collect match data. However, which functions tools outside the client will be able to maintain will depend on the relevant developers' compliance process with Riot policies.
Five Champions Added to Classic Mode
The League Classic roster expands with 26.20. Aatrox, Caitlyn, Irelia, Karma, and Quinn are joining the mode with ability kits based on their older versions. The characters here do not use the same balance values as their current Summoner's Rift versions.
Since Classic aims to bring back past-era gameplay, each champion is adapted from a historical version. Features that are no longer in the main game, such as Aatrox's old Blood Well system and revive mechanic, will be playable again in this mode.
It was announced that the second part of the Classic season pass will arrive with patch 26.21. Therefore, even though new champions become available in 26.20, players will need to wait for the next patch on October 21 for the new season pass.

What Does It Mean for Players?
For ranked players, the item and champion changes may affect pick priorities. The buffs to Vayne, Kindred, Smolder, and Mordekaiser may increase these champions' pick rates. Ambessa, Ashe, and K'Sante, meanwhile, will be played with lower numerical power even if they remain functional at the professional level.
Replay privacy does not prevent players from performing personal analysis; however, it may change the habits of users who download opponents' matches through the client or rely on external tools. The balance between security gains and open analysis options will become clearer in future patches.
Itemgold Comment
26.20 is not just a small balance package aimed at the Worlds stage. The restriction of replay access, the growth of the Classic roster, and the release of the HEARTSTEEL series all affect three different groups of players in the same patch. Players planning to spend RP should check the skin shop, while competitive players especially need to review the Rocketbelt and ranged Hexplate changes.
League of Legends patch 26.20 weakens risky picks for the professional meta while providing targeted buffs to champions that had fallen behind. The item adjustments reduce mobility and ranged top lane efficiency.
While the private replay system changes the security policy, five champions are being added to Classic. The HEARTSTEEL Live My Life collection is also in the game as of October 7. The next major step will be patch 26.21, planned for October 21.
You can review League of Legends RP options on Itemgold and check the current regional prices in the client before spending on new skins and season content.
