Gearbox has introduced Loveless the Hacker, a new playable Vault Hunter for Borderlands 4. A former Anshin hacker and assassin, Loveless uses a skill set built around turning digital viruses into physical effects that interfere with enemies and reshape the battlefield.

How Does Loveless Play?

The core idea behind the character is to transform cyberattacks into physical effects using Borderlands' "digistruct" technology.

Loveless can disrupt enemy systems, apply virus-based damage, and control areas of the battlefield in certain builds. This makes the character more than just a ranged gun specialist, positioning Loveless somewhere between debuffing, area control, and team support.

Official character videos introduce Loveless' background and personality, but the full numerical details of every skill tree are not explained in a single short trailer.

For that reason, early claims about which ability is the strongest or whether Loveless will replace existing Vault Hunters in the meta should not be treated as reliable before balance patches arrive.

A Paid Vault Hunter DLC

Loveless was released as paid DLC on September 10, 2026 and requires the Borderlands 4 base game.

The Steam page lists the PC version, while the content is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The package is separate from Story Pack 2, meaning ownership of another content pack may not automatically provide access to Loveless.

This distinction is especially important for players who own season passes or bundled editions.
